On Episode 49, we’re joined by singer-songwriter Red Shahan. We catch up with Shahan fresh off the release of his sophomore solo album, Culberson County. After being slotted as one of the most highly anticipated albums of early 2018, Shahan and company have delivered one of the year’s best. With it not even being a week since it’s release, Culberson County has already received plenty of critical acclaim and ringing endorsements. We caught up with Shahan this past Saturday afternoon before his soldout show at The Blue Light Live in Lubbock, Texas–his old stomping grounds. As one would expect, we talk about the making of Culberson County, where Shahan’s songs come from, what he expects from himself when it comes to songwriting, and what he sees in the coming months. We talk about old times coming up in Lubbock music scene as well as why the deserts of West Texas have continued to be his favorite subject.
